Simply put, the material in Founded is everything we've taught students at The Garage at Northwestern for the past 6+ years that has led to 95% of them telling us that we've significantly enhanced their college experience. We searched for a book that was straightforward and approachable in the same way we converse with our students, helping them navigate from their first burst of excitement about an idea, through the peaks and troughs of entrepreneurship, ultimately gaining lifelong perspective, knowledge, and skills applicable to any future endeavor.

What we found was an overwhelming amount of bad advice and misleading information about entrepreneurship online, much of it from people with very little entrepreneurial experience or exposure themselves, who are solely looking to profit from uninformed and vulnerable young people with an interest in entrepreneurship.

So, we decided to write the book that we wished we had available to hand to students when they show up excited and insatiable about entrepreneurship. Founded cuts through the noise and gives practical, tested advice on how to get started without any of that intimidating jargon or hustle culture. The ideas and lessons discussed are based on real-world learnings and anecdotes from student founders, making them relatable and accessible to students from any background.
